Project Sitting Volleyball Australia

After the last international sitting volleyball competitions during the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games in Australia, there was a long silence. Sitting volleyball was no longer played in Australia.

In 2021, Olympic and Paralympic Brisbane 2032 was announced, and since 2022, the national volleyball federation, Volleyball Australia, has been working on a policy for sitting volleyball in Australia. Five years later, it has become clear that there is still no serious attention or commitment in Australia to raise awareness for sitting volleyball.

To raise the profile of sitting volleyball in Australia, Parasport Support will give this sport the attention it deserves.

PARASPORT SUPPORT'S CONTRIBUTION

A project plan has been developed for the sitting volleyball project in Australia, which will be implemented step by step. Measurable objectives will need to be achieved. The first benchmark will be in 2028 to see if the project still has a chance of success.

What are we going to do our utmost for?

- Organising free sitting volleyball training sessions and sitting volleyball tournaments, starting in the Melbourne area.

- Organising free courses for sitting volleyball trainers/coaches.

- Giving sitting volleyball presentations and demonstrations.
